The City of "Angels"

wow. Where to start..? I just got back from one of the most eye-opening, challenging, amazing trips of my life. We went to the LA Dream Center with the youth group. I, honestly, am having a very hard time writing about this because it was so crazy awesome. God challenged me in my spiritual gifts and I was able to put them to practical use. It was really cool seeing how much God will use you if you ask. And how accurate His words are.. We always doubt what we hear but when we actually do what he says, it all works perfectly.

All I know is God's love is strong. and He reminded me of that phrase all week. And that was kinda the theme I had for this past week and it seemed to apply to every situation we were faced with.

God was speaking to us the whole time we were ministering. Words of knowledge, visions, spiritual discernment, all were flowing out of us like nothing else! It was cool seeing everybody on the team growing spiritually and also growing closer together. God is willing to use an open heart.

One man London and I talked to was a man named Dennis. He was a homeless man who had been living on the streets since Hurricane Katrina. He played guitar and Jimbe and he wrote gospel songs. He later revealed to us that he had been a pastor for 27 years but had divorced his wife and didn't have anywhere to go after the hurricane. It was crazy how he had started out as a pastor but slowly fell away and hadn't seen his kids in so long he didn't even know how old they were. He was addicted to meth and had absolutely nothing for him. It was heart-breaking.

Something I realized after I got back was how much we worry about selfish, little things. We worry more about what we're going to wear than the 10,000 homeless people living on the streets of Dallas. We are always wanting sympathy for small things that we're upset about but don't care one bit about the important things. Gosh, I was just so convicted going to LA and seeing the need and how much I hadn't done anything. If we were truly after the heart of God we would feel so hurt and broken for these people. We would have love and compassion for these people in our towns and our schools that we wouldn't be able to sit back and watch it happen. God's love is strong enough to mend the broken hearts. If only we were moved by compassion.

  1. This trip was most definately eye opening- and many other things- to me too. But it was really amazing to see how much God was using you megan. Everything that you did, and said, this past week was really great. I can't think of a time when i've seen a teenager rely on God so much. I am really proud of you. You were awesome, and God was awesome through you. Love you girl! ~Danae(:
